What does she do all day?

Some of you have asked and even more have wondered what she does all day. For those inquiring minds I’ve kept a running log of my week’s activities.

Monday Made double espresso latte with the espresso machine given to me by the world’s best husband Read email and surf news websites Watch CNN while eating breakfast Since it is Dave’s day off, I follow him around the house and drive him crazy for a few hours Do a couple of loads of laundry. We have an apartment sized washer and dryer and means a load equals 3 pair of jeans or half of a set of queen size sheets. We do a lot of loads of laundry! Go to the YMCA for Body Pump class Make pizza for supper. Frozen pizza here is yuckier than in the states, so I make the crust. We topped tonight’s pizza with grilled lambed sausages. Watched latest episode of Deadliest Catch

Tuesday Made note to never again feed lamb sausages to Dave Sent Dave off to work so that he can support my lady of leisure habits Made double espresso latte Took Flat Stanley to the NT School of the Air office Go to the post office and put Stanley in the mail to Canada and mail a post card to the Oregon, IL classroom that is doing the Stanley Project. Realize that I left Stanley taped to the wall where I took his picture Drive back across town to rescue Stanley Go back to the post office and mail Stanley Hurry home and whip up a margarita pizza (olive oil, capers, basil, sun dried tomatoes, chopped garlic and parmesan). Take pizza to a Grey’s Anatomy marathon (A friend subscribes through ITunes). We’re now caught up to the writers’ strike. Drank too much wine while watching Grey’s had to call home and leave a message for Dave to come get me when he got home (Don’t feel too bad for him, it’s a short hike across the golf course.) Dave came to pick up his wife and his car and stayed for dinner Taken home by husband and tucked into bed, was asleep before he got his teeth brushed

Wednesday Grunted when Dave kissed me goodbye as he left for work Slept in and had to skip latte and eat yogurt while driving to golf course Teed off with the girls at 8:30 am, played 9 holes of golf Lunch with the girls after golf Cruise through the grocery store for dinner ingredients Shower and nap from golfing in 103 degree heat Go to the YMCA for Body Pump class Had salad for dinner Worked on blog post

Thursday Make double espresso latte (Did I mention how much I love my husband and coffee?) Went to the YMCA for Body Balance class Lunch at home Bowling with the girls Went to the butcher Made curried beef and broccoli Sent Dave of to work a night shift Answered a few emails Watched some television

Friday Made double espresso latte Gave friends a ride to the airport Visited the nursery (plants not kids) for advice on why my lavender is dying and bougainvillea is ill. Learned how to help the bougainvillea and bought rosemary to replace the lavender that will never survive the heat in my flower bed. Hit Mad Harry’s for a candle and a storage container. (Northern Territories answer to the Dollar Store) Went to see my friends at Milner Meats – again. (That’s the butcher shop) Tried to whine my way out of going to the gym and Dave made me go Went to the YMCA for Body Pump class Came home and thanked him for making me go to class Fixed blue cheese stuffed, bacon wrapped pork loin medallions for dinner (This is why I have to go the gym) Can’t remember what I did that evening, but I’m sure it wasn’t very exciting

Saturday Made double espresso latte Got a hair cut Purchased a new rubbish bin at K-Mart (that’s a waste basket for those who don’t speak Australian). Had to get the $40 model because it was the only one they had in stock. While at K-Mart, I brokered a deal with our neighbor to move the fence between our yards to the unfenced side of my yard that opens to the public foot path (That’s Aussie for side walk). He’s a single man who can’t cook hence he crumbled at a single cheesecake as payment. Went to produce wholesaler (open to the public on Saturday) bought fruit and veggies for the week Made the grievous error of going to the grocery store at 11:30 a.m.. Don’t have time to describe how bad of decision that was. Came home to wake up Dave after he worked a night shift (so that he can transition back to days) Made Dave a gourmet lunch of scrambled egg topped with sautéed spinach and tomato plus a grilled portabella mushroom. Did more laundry Dug up lavender and planted rosemary Cleaned bathrooms and mopped kitchen floor Grilled salmon fillets and capsicum (red bell pepper) fill with tomato, feta and basil Covered a bulletin board with fabric and crisscrossed with ribbon Watched Close Encounters of the Third Kind (Dave’s idea not mine)

Sunday Forced Dave out of bed to go on a photo shoot with me Made double espresso latte Drove to the top of ANZAC Hill to shoot pictures of Dave in his team ZIP biking jersey Returned home to make lunch for my adoring husband (He wasn’t happy about being rooted out of bed this morning) Made a double late for Dave Did more laundry Dave ran the vacuum and I dusted Prepared the house and prepped dinner ingredients Had friends over for dinner and fixed peppered ribeyes with roasted onion sauce, ginger orange carrots, oven roasted potatoes and asparagus. Paired the meal with Rockford’s Rifle Range Cabernet. Friends supplied Kentucky Derby pie for dessert – Yummmmmmm! Had a great meal and a wonderful evening Having eaten too much food, considered driving to the grocery store at midnight to get Alka-Seltzer.
