Australia Proud

One of things that I admire most about Australians is their pride of country and steadfast believe and support of Australian made products. Given that, I wasn’t surprised to realize that animal crackers in the land down under are a bit different than those up north.

Australia is the home to a unique group of critters; it only seems fair that they’d make cookies in their honor.

The box even has fun facts for each critter. Did you know:

  • A wombat’s pouch (they’re marsupials) faces backwards. (They’re burrowing animals and a rear facing pouch prevents dirt from getting in the pouch and on the babies)

  • Kangaroo’s can hop up to 50 kph (31 mph)

  • Koalas sleep at least 19 hours a day

  • The platypus is only one of two mammals that lay eggs

  • Cockatoos can live for as long as 50 years.

A very wise woman once told me that life is about the story we tell at the end of the chapter. If statistics are to be believed, I’m closer to the end of my life than the beginning. I’ve quit the race to see who can have the office with best view or the most impressive job title. I’ve made peace with the fact there are some of my early dreams/goals that will never be realized. I love who I am and the women I have become AND boy do I have stories to tell!
