Penfolds, originally uploaded by waggs walk about.

The charm of the Barossa comes from the small to medium sized winery, many of which are family owned and operated. On our second visit to the region we decided to stop at the corporate behemoth – Penfolds. I may continue to drink their port on occasion, but was seriously under impressed. Unlike any other cellar door we have visited in Australia, there is a charge to sample their premium wines. After 15 minutes of being ignored by their tasting room staff. We hopped in the car and went in search of a winery that wanted our business.
