No messing around

Writer's picture: PaulaPaula

One of the trees in our yard is dying. Braches fall off on a weekly basis; we finally got tired of the ongoing mess asked to have it removed. Answering the doorbell this morning, I learned that today was the day for tree removal. Removal is exactly what they did. There was a chainsaw involved but no “cutting down”.

It was an amazing process that was over in a matter of minutes. By the time they rang my doorbell, the crane was already in place behind the back fence. A man climbed up the tree and attached a couple of cables, looped them on a hook suspended by the crane. That guy climbed down from the tree and another man fired but the chain saw and cut the trunk just above ground level. As soon and cut was completed, the crane operator, whisked the tree up and over fence, placing on the ground. Men immediately began cutting up the tree. They used a shredder for the branches and were done and gone in a half hour.

The hook up.

The cut.

The take off.

Flying away.

A very wise woman once told me that life is about the story we tell at the end of the chapter. If statistics are to be believed, I’m closer to the end of my life than the beginning. I’ve quit the race to see who can have the office with best view or the most impressive job title. I’ve made peace with the fact there are some of my early dreams/goals that will never be realized. I love who I am and the women I have become AND boy do I have stories to tell!
