It’s been a year?

Writer: PaulaPaula

This year my life has been a bigger whirlwind than usual. It’s hard to believe that October was our first wedding anniversary. The amazing man who married me, whisked me off to Perth to commemorate the auspicious occasion.

The highlight of the trip (this is the PG version) was a food and wine tour of the Swan River Valley. At 9:30 that morning we boarded a river cruiser and headed up the Swan River to the Swan Valley wine region. By 10:15 we were tasting wine and cheese while the captain explained points of interest on the shore line. Throughout the rest of the day we visited and sampled food and beverage at four vineyards, a brewery, a chocolate company and a nougat shop. The vineyards included servings and samples of locally produced honey, fruits and cheese. Somewhere along the way we were served lunch and desert was consumed at the chocolate and nougat shops. I don’t know if the quality of wine really did improve as the day wore on or maybe our palettes just got saturated. There aren’t any photos with this because auto focus can’t make up for the effects of that much wine.

The Swan Valley is a beautiful area with both large and small vineyards. Our tour was to the smaller boutique producers. Perth is a beautiful city and we hope to return there someday. If you want to checkout the wineyards we visited click on the links below.

A very wise woman once told me that life is about the story we tell at the end of the chapter. If statistics are to be believed, I’m closer to the end of my life than the beginning. I’ve quit the race to see who can have the office with best view or the most impressive job title. I’ve made peace with the fact there are some of my early dreams/goals that will never be realized. I love who I am and the women I have become AND boy do I have stories to tell!
