Opportunities often fall out of the sky clobbering me on the head but every once in the while they land gently in my hand. This time, the stars lined up in my favor and opportunity arose for me travel to the U.S. and will allow me to attend the National Western Stock Show in Denver, Colorado and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association annual Convention in Phoenix. Time will be short and I’ll be busy, so unfortunately, there won’t be time to pop over the last 1000 miles to Illinois. I have to be in Sydney by the first week in February to have my shoulder repaired.
If you’re going to be at Stock Show or the NCBA convention in Phoenix let me know and hopefully we can find a time to get together.
I can’t wait to see all my friends, but have serious concerns about freezing to death. The temperature in Alice has only touched freezing three times in year and a half since my arrival. Winter has never been my favorite season and now I fear that my blood has thinned and getting cold will make me stiff and lethargic, like a lizard on a cold morning. Any of you that have ever witness Paula in the morning know that I’m not far from that description when it’s warm so winter could pose a serious threat to me.
I leave Alice on Tuesday and I packed most of the cloths last week. Packing for this trip has been easy. The cloths needed for January in Denver are MUCH MUCH different than what I’m wearing in Alice this week. It was 100 again today and we spent the afternoon lounging by a pool and sipped gin and tonics on the patio while grilling salmon for supper. We will probably spend some time at the pool again tomorrow – I have such a rough life!
