Irony is one of my favorite forms of humor. Even though it’s subtle and easily missed; it never occurred to me that it was a uniquely American concept. Since moving to Australia, I have realized that some cultures are completely oblivious to irony.

To prove my point, check out the campaign slogan for this Alice Springs mayoral candidate.

The ironic part is that the guy is blind! We’re talking dark glasses, white cane & guide dog blind. He can’t share what he doesn’t have!

A very wise woman once told me that life is about the story we tell at the end of the chapter. If statistics are to be believed, I’m closer to the end of my life than the beginning. I’ve quit the race to see who can have the office with best view or the most impressive job title. I’ve made peace with the fact there are some of my early dreams/goals that will never be realized. I love who I am and the women I have become AND boy do I have stories to tell!
